New York City Weekend

NYC Winter Weekend Getaway

There’s nothing better then some Vitamin Sea in the wintertime. We are lucky to live so close to some amazing beaches in North Carolina. We always enjoy a weekend trip to Wilmington (2 hour drive from Raleigh), no matter what time of year. To be honest, going in the winter is nice to beat the crowded beaches. It’s easy to park, and easy to get out and explore without the crowds, especially during COVID times.

Sunshine is the best medicine.

The last two times we’ve been to Wilmington we have stayed at the Arrive Hotel located in the heart of Wilmington. It’s a great place to stay. The rooms are clean, cozy and so well done. The property is easy walking distance to historic downtown Wilmington and the River Walk. It’s an easy drive to Wrightsville or Carolina Beach for some ocean views and sandy walks. Arrive Hotel has an incredible courtyard with several fireplaces and firepits and even an outdoor gazebo bar for your evening cocktails. It’s been a great place to stay when you want to stay outside and socially distance easily from others.

There are plenty of shops, coffee, breweries and food opportunities in historic Wilmington and a nice stroll to the River is always a good option on a sunny, brisk winter day!

I’ve listed some of the places we like to visit although during COVID, some of these places may have different hours as well as outdoor seating may or may not be available in the Winter. I’ve noted where we were able to dine or drink outdoors.

Relaxing Stay

We love staying at the Arrive Hotel. This charming hotel is located in the heart of downtown Wilmington with easy walks to bars, restaurants, shopping, brewing and the River Walk. The hotel has rooms and suites that are really well set up, cozy, modern and have everything you need for a great stay. The courtyard is large with several fireplaces and firepits for outdoor hangs and a gazebo bar for all your favorite drinks! Be sure to ask for a coffee/tea tray when you stay.
